Favorite Things Friday: #7

Hi there! Who’s ready for the weekend? We definitely are! Until then, here’s our Favorite Things for Friday, August 5:

1. We love food. Especially local, delicious food. Went to Tortas Guicho Dominguez & El Cubanito yesterday for lunch and got the “Megan Fox” for lunch. Best decision ever. Had it for lunch today! Here over to their Fountain Square-ish location or check them out here.

2. Gen Con is in Indy! We’ve seen Picachu and knights and goblins…oh my! Visit here for more information on their costume contest. Game on!

3. Pop-up shops: Pop up, Pop in, Pop out. Such a cool concept. Retailers who can’t commit to buying a space, can rent a space for a short period of time and make a splash in a place they would not usually go. Target pop up shops, Kate Spade, eBay, Nike, Godiva and more have been literally popping up all over and getting locals excited about their brands. If it’s only there for a few days, you’re bound to get a lot of visitors who don’t want to miss it! Check out this gallery of great pop up shops here at Business Insider.

4. Even bad apples can be sweet! A man in New Hampshire stole a woman’s wallet and GPS in a grocery store, but then felt bad about it and returned everything, plus $10 interest. The “remorseful robber” left the following note on the woman’s porch. Though it’s sweet, the police still plan to charge him upon his arrest.

5. It’s the first Friday of the month, so rent is due. Bummer. But it also means it’s First Friday at IDADA (Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association)! This is an opportunity to visit all of the downtown galleries you’ve always wanted to see but never had a chance to! Load up on culture and meet like-minded folk all over downtown Indy. Peep the map here and the Yelp review here see you there!
